Met y'all at the Nature's Harmony farm school about a year ago. Just read a recent post by you and found it interesting that we're both about a month into our farming careers, only a year out. Best of luck...I may pick your brain about goats sometime soon.
I love your blog! We are just starting out on this farming dream as well. We only have 5 acres but we would like to live off our land as much as possible. I am excited to pass on this way of life to my 2 little boys (2 and 3yrs). We got our chickens and started getting eggs. I was intimated to say the least to start the garden so I opted to make designs, read books, think about it, stare at the area where I wanted it, stare at the area with a shovel in my hand with a little tear in my eye because of all the work and then come inside to read instead :) All important to the process I guess. Well the other day I started it and I now have a 8x12 box complete and ready to go. The other day we were driving to a local nursery and saw a sign for goats and bunnies. I had to go and check it out because I really!! want both. My hubby is a thinker and I'm a jumper! It scares him a little because we don't have the first clue. Now it is my task to convince him that we need them :) Thank you for all your inspiring posts that make me feel I am not crazy and I can do this :)
That's funny, Homesteaders. I'm the jumper in our family, too, but somehow most of my good ideas involve work that only my hubby can do. So I try to be considerate and not jump too fast!
This is our first spring on the farm and our going thru so many of the same things right along with you (and a lot of others too!). I really enjoy your blog. Thanks for the great info, pics and community support!
