My onions came up! Just when I had given up on them, we got a few warm sunny days and up they came. Now I have way too many onions. Not knowing any better I just poured seeds out in a line and now I have hundreds of little seedlings! I think I will be cooking with green onions for awhile.
Slugs, I think, ate all my little lettuces, so I replanted and it is starting to germinate - again. I am hoping since it is drier out now, that the slugs won't come again. I also sprinkled a thick ring of sawdust around the edges of that bed and put some banana peels outside of it - I had a neighbor say that that gives the slugs something else to work on while you try to get them out of the garden.
I have beets coming up - they are beautiful! Hot pink and green Bull's Blood Beets. The Golden beets are also starting to peek through - a bright green.
Peas are getting taller, spinach is germinating, carrots are not. Strawberry plants are getting taller.
My tomatoes are up - Amish Paste, Cherry Roam, and Black from Tula. The Gold Medal tomatoes are a few days behind the rest, but seems to have started germinating today. All my starts are spending some good time outside everyday and are growing well despite the mushrooms that keep popping up full-grown overnight in my little newspaper pots.
