A poo management plan is a necessity and might involve setting up hen-free zones or tractoring. We attempt to embrace the poo... we're glad to have it (mostly). It is a player in the permaculture prepping of our no-till, lasagna layered garden plots.
Lasagna Garden Recipe (began in the Fall): covered lawn with cardboard in designated pattern, layered old hay, poo (& bedding straw) from coop, yard debris, occasional coffee grounds, (eventually) compost pile contents...
When the girl's are free roaming they scratch, peck, and even poo directly on the lasagna-ed areas further accelerating the process. The desired end product being fertile soil good-to-go for Spring sowing and such.
