First Post! I'm a college student living in Rural England. I have a deeprooted interest in gardening, self sufficiency, homesteading and survivalism/prepping.

I found this site after looking on Itunes for  interesting Podcasts, and I found Tim & Liz Young's Podcast. I thought it was great, and extremely relevant given that I'm a wannabe farmer. Unlik most of the farm dreams members, I want to start as I mean to go on, instead of building a life in the city then having to uproot myself.

I really wish I was born in America, Ideally somewhere like Idaho or Montana. The majority of people in the UK go glassy eyed when you mention concepts like personal liberty, gun ownership or self sufficiency. The general mindset is that people want to live a cosy, British lifestyle, free of too much responsibility. Then when something goes wrong, its "Why is no-one helping me? Why isn't the government helping?" We have a violent crime rate per 100,000 4 TIMES HIGHER THAN THE US! And yet people in the U.K. regularly go to prison for self defense.

Rant Over.

Ideally I want to start a commune, and by that I mean a community of people with similar interests to me, around 25 adults, no extreme left or right wing politics, people still have personal property etc, just as group of people pooling skills and living with each other like a tribe. Working together for a better way of life.
