The Happy Homesteader
It has been awhile since we have posted at The Happy Homesteader blog and I can personally say I have really missed being an active part of the Farm Dreams community. Our extended family has recently experienced an unexpected loss of a young member of the family and it has been a very difficult thing to deal with for many of us. Death of a loved one is never easy but the death of a young person in the prime of life with little explanation as to the cause of death is especially difficult. It can be so consuming to try to find the reason why so that it makes some kind of sense but in the end it just doesn't. Without getting overly spiritual or religious I must say that no matter what I believe or you believe is the ultimate purpose for this life or what happens to us when we leave this earth in death, I just hope that in some way all of the pain and suffering so many in the human family have went through will someday make sense and will be a distant memory in some better place.
Living life in the present and appreciating all of the little pleasures and wonders of this life are a key part of dealing with such a tragedy. It can be hard to see anything good when going through a loss like this but it is all around us. The simple beauty of a sunrise and the dew on the leaves refreshes my soul every time I get outside early enough to enjoy it. Appreciating my precious wife and kids every moment that I possibly can and not letting the garbage that this life constantly throws at us rob me of that wonderful gift is my new goal in life. Simplifying our life to a point where we can be together and experience all life has to offer while we have the blessing of experiencing it together is the focus of my efforts on our homestead. It is my hope that all of you will always remember the many blessings you are given each and every day and strive to enjoy them as much as you can.
Going forward in our lives we hope to get re-focused on our personal efforts at our homestead and in sharing our experiences here with you. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read our posts.

Comment by Karen Paro on December 11, 2012 at 8:18pm So sorry for the loss of the family member, it's always sad when anyone passes but I think it's twice as bad when they have just started living.
Nice to have you back and will be looking forward to reading more posts from you!
