Well, after years of dreaming, several years of researching, and hypothetical planning, we've finally "bought the farm" in a good way. We are now the proud owners of 44+ acres with a spring fed pond.  The land isn't as pretty as it could be.  Over half of it was clear cut sometime last year, but it has loads of potential.  The home has been vacant for a few years, so it needs a little TLC, but I can honestly say I feel at home here.  I love sitting on the front porch in the morning with my coffee while looking out at the pond.

My hubs is working on getting the area around the pond cleaned up.  He's already cleared out his secret fishing spot (which he proudly showed the kids this afternoon).  He was even kind enough to mow around the blackberry bushes that were growing in the middle of the drive around the pond.

Of course, the more we start cleaning up, the more blackberry bushes we find...around the pond, around the house, in the treeline, around the shop.  I suppose I'd better start tracking down some recipes.

We've already got some fruit plants conveniently right outside our door.  My hubs even found some wild blueberries while investigating the property.  We've got a couple of plum trees in the front yard.  While anxiously awaiting our fruits to come in, I'm already planning the kitchen garden.  I need to get a jump on it if I'm going to get anything planted before the southern heat kicks in.

Congratulations.  I hope everything works out great with your garden.

Thank you.  I think I've got a spot picked out beside the house.  I had given up on it for this year because I couldn't find a water spigot on that side of the house.  But, when my dad came to visit, we were cleaning up some of the bushes around the house and...Ta-Da! A spigot magically appeared behind an overgrown azalea.
