After spending most of our lives in cities, we decided to sell our house in Los Angeles, sell our cars and pursue a simpler, more fulfilling way of life by going back to the land and starting a homestead in the Georgia countryside. With little to know experience, we have a lot to learn but are making positive steps forward every day. From farming the land to raising chickens, this blog will be our attempt to document our adventures (and misadventures!) as we pursue this lifelong dream of going off grid and starting a homestead. Who are we? My name is Yoram Benz, I am a designer, animator, my wife Rosemarie is a registered nurse and we have two small children. I was born in Hawaii and grew up in France near Paris. I run a small green animation and design studio,One Eyed Robot, out of our farm. Rose was born and raised in New Jersey and New York. We are both coming from city environments but both longed all our lives for a different way of life. One that humans had for thousands of years before the industrial revolution. One where people lived in harmony with nature, grow their own food and are stewards of the land. We feel more at home in a field than on city streets.

Our goal is for this journey to lead us into becoming a fully operational organic farm.
