"I think it would be beneficial to look at raising breeds that are easy to keep. For example they don't die in the winter, you don't need to trim hooves and dock tails. In my experience, hair sheep are the best. However, not all hair sheep…"

Small Farm for Rent - MD - Summer 2013-2014

All,We are looking for a responsible family that shares our small farming vision to rent our farm next summer for 6 months to a year.  My husband is in the military and will likely be deploying, and we've decided to take this (hopefully one-time) opportunity to move abroad while he's away.  Our 3 kids and I will move to Europe and experience a different lifestyle and bring home new perspectives on farming, cheese making, and living.  We are really excited about this adventure!  But we need to…See More

For good heritage turkeys, I use Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys (http://www.porterturkeys.com/index.htm ).  I've bought from them several times, and they guarantee live arrivals (and stand behind it!)

A couple of years ago, Ideal suggested having a couple of chicks with the poults.  When I did that I went from a 80 percent not live, to a 75 percent (actually higher) that did.  I think the chicks teach the poults how to eat and drink).
