I've learned several things about living way past the city limit sign. First of all, there is no way we can afford the gas to take the kids to and from school everyday. So, the kids all ride the bus and they're only picked up thirty minutes earlier than we used to leave and they get home about thirty minutes later in the day. The difference is an extra tank of gas a week, and I'm not sitting in two carpool lanes for approximately two hours a day and driving twenty minutes each way. Yay!!! I've…See More

The Grass Is Greener

On the Other Side.  After spending my teenage years trying to escape a small town in Florida, I've spent the past four years or so dreaming of settling back in a small town community.  My husband and I finally bought a place in the country.  He gave a huge sigh of relief, I'm sure.  If it wasn't for love of me, he probably never would have moved to a big city.

We now own 44+ acres in central Georgia.  We've got a spring fed pond that my hubs and the kids are eagerly investigating.  Over half of the land was clear cut sometime last year, so it's going to take some cleaning up before we can do anything with it.  But, it has a lot of potential.  We've discovered several varieties of fruit around the yard.  We have a couple of plum trees, loads of wild blackberries, and a few blueberry bushes.

We also have an unlimited supply of stinging nettles and sand spurs, but with a little persistence, I'm sure we'll overcome.  And it's definitely worthwhile.

New Beginnings

Well, after years of dreaming, several years of researching, and hypothetical planning, we've finally "bought the farm" in a good way. We are now the proud owners of 44+ acres with a spring fed pond.  The land isn't as pretty as it could be.  Over half of it was clear cut sometime last year, but it has loads of potential.  The home has been vacant for a few years, so it needs a little TLC, but I can honestly say I feel at home here.  I love sitting on the front porch in the morning with my…
