"Fantastic, Ellen. I just pruned mine back on Thursday. The grapes have set for the season and they look great. I really have no idea what I'm doing with them - very much learning as I go. I'm glad the grapes know what they're doing ;)"

Bunnymania: Week 2

I should have a bee post right now. The weather is incredible here in Memphis (mid-70′s today) and I should have gone out to the bees this week, but time just wouldn’t allow. So in lieu of a spring Memphis beekeeping update, I’ll give you a quick update on the kits (rabbits). They’re two weeks old as of yesterday. It’s been…See More

December Hive Update

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 6:30pm 5 Comments

To say it’s been a weird winter in Memphis so far would be an understatement. Last week we had consistent days over 60 degrees, and the week before was solid 50′s. Today it’s 43 degrees, and we’re expecting it to dip down in the 20′s.

David,

I have Italians here in Durham, NC. My bees are feeding outside almost daily, three types of pollen coming in. I checked the honey stores last week on my hive and found maybe 5-10 pounds used since fall when I last looked. Pretty amazing. Setting up hive teo April 14th.
