Homesteading, Organic Gardening, How to Farm, Preparedness, Self-Reliance
This is the housing for my pastured layers. It's 10x16 on 4x4 skids so I can move it every day. It is actually light enough that I can move it by hand. I bent the conduit with a hoop house bender I purchased online. I have had 200 birds in this at one time. The nest boxes are attached to the outside to discourage roosting at night.

Comment by Jeff Hamons on March 8, 2012 at 7:32am Does this get hot in the summer or do you use some type of shade cloth?
Comment by Robbie Perdue on March 8, 2012 at 11:41pm Not sure on the weight. im a big guy so i just pull it by hand. Most people would use a tractor.
It didn't get real hot last summer, but i do have shade cloth standing by just in case.

Comment by Ellen Samek on March 12, 2012 at 3:16pm Can you show how you have the nest boxes...as well as the other side?? Thanks!
Comment by Herbivore on April 17, 2012 at 4:28pm Would it be faux pas to ask how much it cost to build?
