I bought a magazine called The New Pioneer. I love this mag! It is what got me thinking about farmsteading in the first place. =) Anyways, it has a great article about buying land. The author brought up questions that I would have never thought of myself. Questions like "Who would have the mineral rights?" and "Are there any streams running through the land? If so, what is located up stream?" I would recommend this magazine to anyone, especially people interested in farmsteading. I read it religiously. LOL.

My husband and I are moving to Colville, WA in October and hope to start a small farmstead (it has been our dream for years).  I stumbled on Farm Dreams and have been enjoying exploring the groups and forums.  Could anyone suggest a place on this site (or other places) where I could possibly find people who already live in NE Washington and get some ideas on land, farms, growing, etc.?  Thanks so much for the help!

Amber, send me an email jim@rurallivingtoday.com.  We are already there and help point you in the right direction.  You made a very, very good decision to come to the colville area.

my best,

Jim Mitchell
