Anitra Kerr from simplylivingsmart.com recommends the Wondermill Jr. Deluxe hand operated grain mill. What grain mill do you recommend and why?

I have a Diamant that I bought from Lehman's several years ago...LOVE this mill. Built to be an heirloom and grinds fine smooth flour the first time through. It is more expensive than it was when I bought it but I have used the Country Living mill that a friend of mine has and although it does a better than average job the flour out of mine was a more even grind and finer in one pass.

The Country Living line has a good reputation. We actually carry all of these in the Farm Dreams store thru Amazon if you're interested. Here's the Wondermill that Daisy mentioned and here's the manual Country Living grain mill with the optional motorization kit.
Buy a quality product and it'll last you a lifetime.

However, it definitely is not hand cranked. In case of power outage it would be useful as something to throw at the attacking zombies -- but thats about it!
Permalink Reply by Billy Goat on December 9, 2011 at 12:50pm The Country Living Grain Mill looks perfect... except the price. But I will certain consider it. I like the hand cranked method... as long as my dear wife will be doing it. Shhh. ;-) I read where some folks hooked it up to a stationary bicycle. How cool is that?! Thanks, Dusty!

Permalink Reply by Billy Goat on December 10, 2011 at 11:03am All these mills looks really nice. The Meadows Mills look like the work horse you say they are. Being new to prepping we are thinking of milling a healthier grain (we don't grow our own... yet, but hope to). So I think the Meadows models are way beyond what we need. And, at 175 pounds, too much for chucking at zombies.
