Anitra Kerr from simplylivingsmart.com recommends the Wondermill Jr. Deluxe hand operated grain mill.  What grain mill do you recommend and why?

I have a Wondermill.  I got totally spoiled one Christmas though and got the full blown automatic one and everything!  I love it.  It is easy to set up and use and clean.  It's pretty quiet and the flour is ground well.

Thanks Daisy!  Do you have any experience with other grain mills?  If so, what were your impressions?

I have a Diamant that I bought from Lehman's several years ago...LOVE this mill.  Built to be an heirloom and grinds fine smooth flour the first time through.  It is more expensive than it was when I bought it but I have used the Country Living mill that a friend of mine has and although it does a better than average job the flour out of mine was a more even grind and finer in one pass.

My only recommendation, if you're concerned about prepping, is to get one that can be used manually as well as electrically.  The Country Living line has a good reputation.  We actually carry all of these in the Farm Dreams store thru Amazon if you're interested. Here's the Wondermill that Daisy mentioned and here's the manual Country Living grain mill with the optional motorization kit

Buy a quality product and it'll last you a lifetime.

My wife has the nutrimill and really loves it!

However, it definitely is not hand cranked.  In case of power outage it would be useful as something to throw at the attacking zombies -- but thats about it!

The Country Living Grain Mill looks perfect... except the price.  But I will certain consider it.  I like the hand cranked method... as long as my dear wife will be doing it.  Shhh.  ;-)  I read where some folks hooked it up to a stationary bicycle.  How cool is that?!  Thanks, Dusty!

Never underestimate the need for something to chuck at zombies.  ;-)  I'll check out the Nutrimill also.  Thanks, Jeff!

Have any of you looked intp run you gasoline engines on wood smoke?
I started with the country living mill and added a motor. Does a great job with both soft and hard wheat. One friend had his hooked up to an exerise bike. The bad thing about it, it does not grind corn very well. It often clogs up the burrs. The mill I use now the most is The Meadows Mill. It has 8 inch granite stones. Talk about a work horse. I have used it to mill corn for animal feed. I use it for my flours and corn meal. I can not say enough good about the Meadows Mill. http://www.meadowsmills.com/

All these mills looks really nice.  The Meadows Mills look like the work horse you say they are.  Being new to prepping we are thinking of milling a healthier grain (we don't grow our own... yet, but hope to).  So I think the Meadows models are way beyond what we need.  And, at 175 pounds, too much for  chucking at zombies.
